Agnes Hazel Walker (nee Bauer) age 98, died peacefully at the Grande Village retirement home in Twinsburg, Ohio on Tuesday, November 4, 2014.
She was born on November 2, 1916 in Corliss (Madison) Wisconsin to her parents, Adam and Helen (Magdalena) Bauer. The family moved to Akron Ohio when she was two years old where she lived for the rest of her life. She graduated from Kenmore High School and attended the University of Akron and served for 21 years as Secretary of Margaret Park School.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Robert William Walker, her husband of 57 years, whom she married on November 9, 1935 and by her brother Adam "Eddie" Bauer. She is survived by her sisters Helen Kohler and Anna Zupko, three children, Robert Terry Walker (Virginia Irene) of Carlisle Pennsylvania, Judith Ann Whitemyer (James, deceased) of Wheaton Illinois and Cheryl Christine (Pete) Kutsko-Bednar of Novelty Ohio; grandchildren, Elizabeth Watkins (Bruce), Robert Walker (Tina), Charles Walker (Diana), Stephanie Dunham (Gary), David Whitemyer (Bethany), Loren Kutsko (Lauren), Rachel Wright (Jeff), Lindsay Kutsko and Stefan Kutsko; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was a former member of the Kenmore Methodist Church, the First United Church of Christ in Akron and the Akron City Club. Known as a skilled homemaker and seamstress, she enjoyed playing golf and bowling. Her ever present smile will be greatly missed by her family and her many friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, November 16 at 2 PM at the Federated Church of Chagrin Falls at 76 Bell Street, Chagrin Falls, Ohio. The family will receive guests during visitation and viewing hours on Monday, November 17 from 10:00 AM to noon at the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front Street, Cuyahoga Falls Ohio. Interment at Greenlawn Cemetery in Akron Ohio will be at the convenience of the family. Donations may be made to Kenmore Seniors or to the charity of your choice.
