Anne Margaret Vogel (Cahill), 95, passed away very peacefully on January 7, 2025 after a six-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born in Oswego, New York to the late William Stanton and Ruth Mae Cahill. Anne grew up working with her family at the famous Cahill’s Fish Market. She graduated in 1947 from Oswego High School, and in 1950, earned an associate degree in Business Administration/Retail Management from Rochester Institute of Technology. After school, she moved to New Jersey and worked as a buyer where she met her husband.
She loved her career in retail sales for numerous department stores in Summit Mall (Polskys, Oneils, May Co., Kaufmanns), then later for the census and Hale Farm’s gift shop. She lived in the house that her and her husband built in Bath, Ohio for 35 years before moving to Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio for the next 14 years. They enjoyed being members of the Natatorium and Taylor Memorial Library.
Some of her hobbies included walking, gardening, feeding the birds, cooking, reading, crossword puzzles, and travelling. She was a Girl Scout leader, band parent and volunteered to build floats for the Rose Bowl parade. She loved helping people and making them laugh, entertaining family and friends, and especially spending time with her grandchildren whom she dearly loved.
Anne was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, John Joseph Vogel, Sr., and brothers Jack and Bill Cahill. She is survived by her children, Ruthanne Peebles, John Vogel (Christian Kennedy), and grandchildren, Margaret Peebles (Cody Bartley) and Nathan Peebles (Rachael Steer).
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all of the special people who offered love and support throughout this journey, and to Sunrise of Cuyahoga Falls and Traditions Health Hospice for the wonderful care provided. Special thanks to the Cuyahoga Falls Alzheimer’s support group.
Cremation has taken place; services with a Celebration of Life party will be held in the Spring. She will be buried with her husband in Moore’s Chapel Cemetery in Bath. Donations may be made in her name to St. Jude’s or the Alzheimer’s Association.
