Betty Garrison

KENT -Betty Jane Cross Garrison, 79, died January 14, 2011. She was born in Akron in 1931, the daughter of George T. and Jeanette Cross of Cuyahoga Falls, OH. Betty Jane graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1949 and from Kent State University in 1953. Betty Jane was a vocal music teacher in Rocky River, OH for three years. She married Robert Garrison in 1955 and raised four children kindergarten thru high school in the Kent Schools. She was active in Jay Cee Janes, Kent United Methodist Church, League of Women Voters and Girl Scouts. Betty Jane was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority.

Her husband and she were married for 54 years. The children are Jonathan Cross Garrison of Cincinnati, Beth Dreitler (Joseph) of Columbus, Daniel Garrison (Andrea) of Henderson, Nevada and Mark Robert Garrison of Seattle, WA. and grandchildren, Robert Cross Garrison and Jonathan Mark Garrison of Henderson, Nevada. Betty Jane was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Ellen Thomas.

The Garrison Family wishes to thank the caring staff at Kent Ridge on Golden Pond and the staff of Harbor Light Hospice for their exceptional care.

The Family will receive friends from 2:00 to 5:00 pm Sunday, January 16th in The Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls. A private graveside service will be conducted in Chestnut Hill Memorial Park.
