Betty Jane (Hanes) Schumann

Betty Jane (Hanes) Schumann, 95, passed away quietly at home, on June 9th, 2022.

Betty was born on October 18th, 1926, to the parents of Samuel and Mary (Wolf) Fletcher in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, where she resided most of her life. Betty graduated in 1945 from Cuyahoga Falls High School and then met and married Floyd in 1953. She worked many years and retired from Mactac in Stow, Ohio.  Betty loved the Lord Jesus and was an active member of the United Presbyterian Church of Cuyahoga Falls for many years. Later on in life, she moved to Mount Pleasant, SC to be near her kids but always said, “Ohio is my home”. Betty was a very caring and giving wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend to everyone and she never complained or talked ill about anyone or anything.  She loved deeply and never wanted to be fussed over, even in her last days here on earth. Betty loved nature, loved flowers and always had her pets or family member pets surrounding her. She also loved playing bingo and bowling, which she was quite good at. You would always find a big grin on Betty’s face while enjoying her favorite fruits or chocolates! We also want to acknowledge her good friend and caregiver; Tammy Riley who was like family to Betty and the family; who took such good care of her for many years along with Robert, Mary and Greg.

Preceded in death by her first husband, Floyd; second husband Harvey Hanes; sister Margret Kochan; and two brothers; Robert and Arthur.

Betty is survived by her two children; Robert Schumann, Mary (Greg) Broome; her sister Eleanor Grimes and many other loving nieces, nephews and friends.
