Billie Jane Hayes, of Cuyahoga Falls, passed away December 20, 2024, at the age of 85. Billie was born and raised in Beckley, West Virginia and was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. She relocated to the Akron area to be closer to her family, and began her career at Sonoco Products Company, where she retired with 35 years of service.
Billie had a passion for books, art, and music. She loved to travel with family and friends and her enthusiasm for adventure took her to places like our beautiful national parks, Italy, France, and Greece. She was especially drawn to the energy and artistry of Paris and New York City, and considered these her favorite places to visit.
She loved animals and always found joy in the company of cats and dogs throughout her life. Her love of animals was a reflection of her empathetic spirit and her generosity and kindness were extended to everyone she met. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Jeanette (Verlaney) Terzis.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Cotton Troha (Jeff) of Birmingham, Alabama; siblings, Vicki (John) Jencik and Anthony (Dawn, d.) Terzis; in addition to several nieces and nephews and extended family members.
The family wishes to acknowledge the care, support, and kindness of the nursing staff and doctors at the Acute Palliative Care Unit at Summa [Akron Campus].
At her request, no services will be held. In memory of Billie, please consider a donation to the Humane Society of Summit County, 752 W. Portage Trail, Akron, OH 44313 or The Acute Palliative Care Unit through the Summa Foundation, 141 N. Forge St., Akron, OH 44304.
