Carl Zimmerman

BARBERTON- Carl E. Zimmerman, 80, passed away peacefully Feb. 26, 2014. Mr. Zimmerman was born in Shreve and had resided in Barberton the past 15 years, moving there from Stow, having resided there for 34 years. He was a member of the Stow Alliance Fellowship Church, the American Legion Post 44 and the Liedertafel of Barberton. He graduated from Canal Fulton High School, was All County in Football and Basketball, All Post in Football, Basketball and Baseball, Golden Gloves Champion in 1953 and was inducted into the Fast Pitch Softball Hall of Fame.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine and is survived by his daughters, Carla (Mike) Simpson and their children, Kevin and Daniel of Tallmadge, Debbie Bechler and her family of Akron, Denise (Bob) Jett and family of Peninsula and Laura Cox of Oregon; sisters, Barb Halpin and Terry Lawerance; brother, Steve Zimmerman and special friend, Margie Mazzan.

Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be conducted at 5:00 pm Monday, March 3 in The Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls, his dear friend Jim Stettler officiating. Friends may call beginning at 4:00 pm Monday, March 3. Final resting place Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Services entrusted to Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home & Crematory, 330-928-2147.
