Carolyn Wharton

CUYAHOGA FALLS - Carolyn "Lynn" A. Wharton, 84, went home to be with Jesus on January 3rd, 2016, peacefully with her sons by her side. Born in Macedonia she grew up in "Old Northampton" where she rode horses, worked on the family farm and at "Sorg Grocery" on the SW corner of State Rd. and Portage Trail in the late 30s and early 40s. Lynn raised her family with "Big Jim" at their home on Portage Trail. She was a great mom and grandmother, helping with any and all needs of the family. Lynn worked for General Motors Terex Div. in Hudson, where she became supervisor in the 60s and 70s. She and Jim retired first at Seneca Lake and later for 20 some years in North Myrtle Beach. Lynn attended North Myrtle Beach Baptist Church and later Northampton Bible Church after moving back to Cuyahoga Falls. She loved to play cards. An avid Bridge and Euchre player, she continued to play up until the last few days of her life with "Fred" at Sunrise Assisted Living. Lynn was blessed with longevity of life, a good heart and the love of helping others. She was a great cook... . Boy could she cook!!

Lynn was preceded in death by husband, James E. Wharton; daughter, Jan L. Rossman; parents, Charles and Lena Sorg, sisters, Alma Fetters, Betty Blocksom, Dori Ratchford ; cousin, Bobby Osman; niece, Charlene Gongaware; nephew, Dicky Blocksom; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Whitey and Liz Bernhart. She leaves behind sons, Jack (Mary) Bernhart, Chris (Cheryl) Bernhart; son-in-law, Richard Rossman, grandsons, Mike (Megan Williams) Bernhart, James (Jill) Bernhart, Charlie Bernhart, Steven Rossman and great-grandsons, Noah Williams, and Jacob Bernhart. She will be greatly missed.

Friends may call 1 A½ hours prior to a 11:30 funeral service on Saturday January 9, 2016 in the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home 1930 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls, Oh, 44221. Interment Northlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of other remembrances memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 70 West Streetsboro St. Suite 201, Hudson, OH, 44236.
