Celia Faye Chandler

Born July 28, 1938 in Waterford, OH. Died June 14, 2023 in Hartville, OH. Daughter of the late Emmett Caplinger and Elizabeth Scoggan Caplinger.

Celia should be remembered as a Good Samaritan who always gave to others expecting absolutely nothing in return.

She made sure all of her family and friends had their own dedicated time for phone calls and visits and she always made each person feel special. One did not encroach on each other’s phone time …

You would never come to her house without being offered an (over)abundance of homemade food, drink, and then talk of goings-on of family.

She was masterful at outdoor gardening, spending hours daily tending her flowers (very rarely sitting down during the day); then reading, doing crossword puzzles, or playing Solitaire (the only times you would find her actually sitting down until her late bedtime).

Oh, and very much a fan of home makeover shows, we would call her for advice on anything for a ‘well-dressed’ home.  British shows on PBS were also to be often found on her viewing list.

Predeceased by son, Clarence Eugene Chandler in 1997; Left to cherish her memory, beloved husband, Clarence Chandler.  They would have celebrated 70 years of marriage this fall.  

Daughter, Cindy Chandler Hunter (Bill) of Charlotte NC; son, Arthur Scott Chandler (Michelle)  of Akron OH and great-granddaughter, Lexi Lee Smith; Granddaughter, Meagan (Logan) Banks and great-grandson, Harrison Chandler Banks of Chesapeake VA; sisters, Mary (Douglas) Lowe and Lynda (Patrick) Tebelak.

Known affectionately as Lolly to her nieces and nephews: Heather Lowe Arianna, Melissa Lowe and Jeffrey Lowe, Jon Tebelak, Brian Tebelak, and Cinde Tebelak Tartaglia; and lifelong friend Glorene Boso.

We will all miss her beyond words. The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to their favorite charity in Celia Chandler’s name. Interment will be private at a later date.
