Charles E. Stanley “Chuck” of Cuyahoga Falls, passed away suddenly on April 17th, 2025.
A dedicated, hardworking and cherished husband, father and friend and a man of many passions and talents. Chuck was many things, to many people. But most of all, he was reliable and caring and a source of dependability.
Chuck had a lifelong passion for cars, and loved anything with an engine. He grew up building and racing cars at Dragway 42. His first love was his Chevy Nova. Graduating from Northwestern Business College, he became a master mechanic. A one-of-a-kind handy man who could fix anything. His co-workers at PMI Inc., referred to him as the “magic mechanic”. Whether it was diagnosing an obscure noise in someone’s vehicle or repairing a broken pipe, he was always there with a wrench, a screwdriver and a determination to solve the problem.
An outdoorsman at heart, he could be found on the lake, on his boat, his pride and joy. He spent many days fishing with his son and grandsons, in search of the perfect catch. A skilled archer and marksman, he enjoyed hunting and endless hours in the woods. A talented craftsman, he spent time woodworking and making stained glass, garnishing many commissions and awards for his work. He had a green thumb, and took pride in his garden, and canning his own produce. Chuck gave back to the community through educating others. Through the years, he taught auto mechanics and canning classes at the community center. Passionate about fishing and the importance of conservation, he organized fishing outings for the church youth groups. A grill master in his own rite, he had perfected his brisket recipe and was always eager to share a meal with family and friends. Chuck was a lifelong lover of ice cream, with a soft spot for banana splits. He spent many summers, creating his own unique flavors.
Preceded in death by his father Harold W. Stanley and mother Marian Stanley (nee Tisher), and sister Linda Howell (nee Stanley). Chuck leaves behind his loving wife, Mitzi Stanley (nee McIntire) of 38 years. Together, they made the most of every moment they shared. Sharing date nights at Thompson Raceway, many day trips and bonfires with the neighbors. Survived by his children Mallory Van Snick (Geert) and Joel Stanley (Ashley), and grandchildren, Alexia, Bram, Camden and Carley, he left with lessons and his legacy. For his daughter Mallory, he passes along a heart for wayward animals, a passion for advocating for others and a drive to stand up for what’s right, even when it’s hard. His son Joel, inherited his talented hand for woodworking and auto and diesel mechanics and huge heart for helping others. More than anything, he loved and supported his grandchildren. He was the proud grandfather of a granddaughter who plays baseball, Alexia. He took pride in playing catch and watching her games. Bram was his right-hand handyman. Sharing projects and a love of building and engineering. Camden, his fishing buddy, shared his passion for fishing, love of the outdoors and many days out on the lake. With Carley he shared lots of giggles and silly antics. He is also survived by sister Susan Pritchard, brother-in-law Jeffrey Howell, bonus daughters Crystal and Jennifer and many nieces, nephews and friends. He will be deeply missed by his dog and little companion, Dixie.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 17th from 2pm-5pm at Galt Park Lodge 2000 Oneida Avenue in Cuyahoga Falls.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Ike Foundation, The Lending Tackle Box and Operation Orphan Wildlife Rehabilitation of Akron.
