CUYAHOGA FALLS - Charles W. Welch, Sr., 93, passed away October 5, 2011.
Mr. Welch was born and raised in Louisa, Kentucky and joined the US Navy in 1940, serving as a Turret Captain on the USS Milwaukee. He has lived in Cuyahoga Falls since 1947 retiring after 32 years of service with the United States Postal Service. He was a life member of VFW Ralph Huff Post 1062, American Legion Charles Faust Post 281, D.A.V. Buckeye State #8, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, AARP and the United Presbyterian Church of Cuyahoga Falls. He played with the Grandpa's and Grandma's Band.
Preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Sadie; sisters Jo Simpson and Ernestine Jones, he is survived by his children, Phyllis (David) Felts of Rochester, PA and C. William (Joyce) Welch, Jr. of Renton WA: grandchildren, Heather, David, Bethany, Taylor, Tucker, Kasey, Kirsten, Tyler, Justin and Jocelyn; great-grandchildren, Kindred, Kayleigh, Kami, Kennedy, Jade, Isaiah and Gavin; sisters, Sue Kelly and Betty Compton and brother Clyde, Jr.

Friends may call from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Saturday October 8 in the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls and from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the United Presbyterian Church, 2819 Hudson Dr. Cuyahoga Falls OH 44221, where a Funeral Service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday October 9, Rev. J Ross Slaughter officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Monday October 10. Military Honors by American Legion Charles Faust Post 281.
