Cheryl Beatty

CUYAHOGA FALLS - Cheryl Beatty, A loving and wonderful daughter, sister, step-mother, aunt, great friend, and my love, my best friend, my wife passed away peacefully on July 7, 2010, with me holding her hand and loved ones around her. This followed an over 3 A½ year battle with cancer, one in which she never gave up and endured the pain within herself, never complaining to others. She died as she lived, courageously, bravely and placing others before herself. God must have a use for another angel because if ever there was one on earth it was Cheryl.

Cheryl, 61, was born April 20, 1949 in Akron, Ohio to H.B. and Ruth Isaacs. She moved to Cuyahoga Falls in 1956 and has lived there ever since. She graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1967 and received a Bachelor of Education from Kent State University in 1971. She primarily worked in banking of one type or another, first at Akron Savings, later TransOhio, and finally Minnesota Title until 2000. She was preceded in death by her first husband David Sherk, by her father H. B. Isaacs, by Aunt Alma Lee, by her Grandma Donna Logan by former father-in-law Jack Sherk, and by very close friend Phyllis Prinzo. She is survived by her loving husband, Dwight; by her loving and devoted mother Ruth Isaacs of Cuyahoga Falls, by her brothers Greg Isaacs (Colleen); Steve Isaacs; and Mark Isaacs; and Gary Stewart (Cheryl). Also by her 5 step-children Debbie Clapp; Matt Beatty; Denise Lee; Scott Beatty (Susan); and Ellen Howes (Tom). Also Surviving are her loving nieces Natalee Isaacs (Anthony), Alyssa Isaacs (Chaz), and Ann Stewart, along with nephew Gary Stewart, Jr. She also leaves behind two additional sisters-in-law, Diana Lewis and Cheryl Isaacs, as well as 8 loving step-grandchildren; Chip, Jennifer, Grace, Thomas, Bradley, Meghan, Troy, and Taylor and a lovable one-year old great nephew, Luca (mother Natalee). Also surviving are her Aunt Josie Robinson (Marvin), former mother-in-law Tena Sherk, and former brother-in-law Scott Sherk, and Toni Twiggs.

Cheryl loved life, her family, and her friends. Her brothers, nieces, aunts, step-children, and step-grandchildren were the world to her. She put everything she had into her relations with her family and all the everlasting friendships that she had cultivated throughout her lifetime. Cheryl was the most trustworthy, loyal, caring, and brave person you could ever find. She had a knack for human nature and seemed to know what people would do or say before they did it. Some people have one or two really good friends but anyone who knew her just had to be her best friend. She had life-long friends, work friends, and anyone she just met couldn't help but be her friend. And she was a best friend to them all. She was always there, night and day, to them to come for advice, cry on her shoulder or share their joy. She took it all to heart and if were happy she was or if sad so was Cheryl.
Cheryl was much more than a step-mother and a step-grandmother. She was a true mother and best friend to all the children and was more of a kid with the grandkids as they were growing up. She never tired of playing any and all games they wanted to play. She loved the games her and the grandkids played on New Year's Eve in Florida and I think she wore the kids out.

Cheryl just loved being with and doing things with all her friends. She loved the movies, popcorn, Andy & Opie, and playing cards or any game you would put in front of her. She was part of a monthly card group for over 25 years and the only thing that could keep her from it was cancer. They were all part of her circle of best friends. Other couples played cards with us and provided her with a night of pleasure and happiness because she was doing something that she loved. Cheryl never cared whether she won or lost. She was that one-in-a-million that simply played for the fun and enjoyment of the game itself.

Cheryl's one small vice which was completely against her nature was that she loved casino gambling. She never smoked or drank her entire life so I guess she was allowed this one thing. But she never strayed from her self-imposed limits. She simply enjoyed the excitement and entertainment value of the experience. We loved traveling to new places so we had an opportunity to visit most of the casinos in the eastern part of the country as well as Vegas, Reno, Tahoe, Laughlin and others.

We have been over most of this country but her favorite place was San Francisco. I so wish that we could have gone back one last time but it was not to be. It was a privilege and an honor for me to be her husband and have her love me.

She was loved by so many people and will be missed by all. We laughed a lot together and did so many things together and I never tired of her company. I simply hope that when I pass on she will be waiting for me as I would be for her.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Jennifer Payne and Dr. Joseph Burick and all the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff at both Jean and Milton Cooper Cancer Center and Akron City Hospital.

A memorial service is planned for 11 O'clock Saturday, July 10 at the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls, Oh. 44221. Inurnment will be at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park, 2613 Sackett Ave., Cuyahoga Falls, Oh.
In-lieu of other remembrances, donations can be made to the Jean and Milton Cooper Cancer Care Center, 525 E. Market St., Akron Oh 44309, or the charity of you choice.
