NORTHAMPTON -Chief Myron E. Harrington, Jr., 71, died unexpectedly at his residence February 2, 2011. Chief Harrington was born in Northampton where he had resided his entire life. He had volunteered for the Northampton Fire Dept. beginning in 1960, joined the Cuyahoga Falls Fire Dept. on Jan. 1, 1968 and resigned on Jan. 11, 1980 to become the Chief of the Northampton Fire Dept. He returned to the Cuyahoga Falls Fire Dept. in 1986 and retired Aug. 10, 1993 with the Rank of Captain. He was a member of the Firefighters Union #494, the Akron Firefighters Retirees Assoc. and loved farming. He was a previous member of the Steels Corners Community Church.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Joyce; daughter, Kelley; son, Myron E. III, stepsons, Tim and Ted, all of Northampton and sisters, Janet Sykes (John) of Northampton and Jeanne Wunderle (Tim) of Kent.
There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be conducted at 4:00 pm Monday, Feb. 7 in the Steels Corners Community Church, 3996 State Road, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44223, Pastor Shaun McNea and Pastor Duane Crabbs officiating. The Last Alarm will be sounded by the Cuyahoga Falls Fire Dept. Honor Guard. Final resting place Harrington Cemetery. In lieu of other remembrances, memorials may be made to the Steels Corners Community Church.
