CUYAHOGA FALLS - Clarence Page was born August 28, 1915, in Eden Prairie Minnesota. He died at 89 Friday, October 29. After his mother's death he was raised by his grandparents on a small farm. With the help of an uncle, he graduated from Hamline University in St. Paul in 1937 where he met Grace Perkins. They married in 1938 and celebrated 66 years of marriage the week before he died.
Clarence worked for Firestone Tire and Rubber Company his entire 40 year career moving from Nebraska to North Dakota to Illinois and finally to Ohio in 1952. He began as a tire adjustor traveling countless miles by car in the frozen cold and finished as head of the National Account Sales Department here in Akron adding many more miles by plane.
For many years he supported the First United Methodist Church in Cuyahoga Falls serving in many positions including finance committee member and gardener. The week he died he was planning the holiday nut sale.
Over the years he has given his unconditional love, unwavering support and practical advice to his daughters and their husbands, Peggy and Bob Springer and Patsy and Bob Moyer, and their children Kari and Matt Beery, Todd and Gina Springer, Vanessa and Mark Mills, and Cassandra and Matt Reeder. In later years he has taken great delight in watching his great-grandchildren Quinn and Grace Springer and Carson Reeder grow and develop.
He was friendly, gregarious and funny. He remained true to his mid-western roots: he was organized and practical, he lived modestly and loved his family. He will be greatly missed by those who loved and adored him.
His memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 2, at the First United Methodist Church in Cuyahoga Falls. There will be no calling hours, but friends are invited to a reception following the service at the Church. Should you wish to remember him, please send a donation to the church in his name rather than sending flowers. Remember, he was a faith-filled practical man.
