SILVER LAKE - Cynthia Lee Lindway, March 16, 1954-June 21, 2005.
Cynthia held an outdoor memorial service this past Sunday for her sister Cheryl who passed away on June 6th. She attended a requiem mass on Monday and then died peacefully in her sleep on Monday night.
She was equally beautiful, brilliant, and beloved as Cheryl. Cynthia was schooled in the Cuyahoga Falls area attending Holy Family, Silver Lake and Cuyahoga Falls High. Then she went to Kent State, the International School at Peubla, Mexico and graduated summa cum laude from American University in Washington D.C.
She taught school on St. Croix, then worked in the wine industry in Napa, CA while she attended Sonoma State where she obtained a masters in psychology. She became a Certified Hanna Somatics Educator, one of only 37 in the world at that time. Since then, she had enhanced that pain-relieving therapy and introduced it in Santa Cruz, CA, on Maui, in London and, lastly, on Kosamui, Thailand. She taught people from all over the world how to relieve their own pain and stay healthy, recruiting new therapists along the way. She was loving and kind and generous to a fault. Her nature was reflected in her work. Many people were recipients of her charitable ministrations.
She is survived by her devastated parents, Eleanor and Roger Lindway of Cuyahoga Falls; and her partner, Meredith Collard of Kosamui, Thailand. We will miss her smiling face, loving heart and marvelous cooking.
Cremation took place on Thursday. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations may be made in her name to the NAMA-Relief Fund, St. Joseph's Credit Union NAMA-Relief Efforts, 35 Bradbury Street, Biddeford, ME 04005 to support the orphans and fishing villages destroyed by the tsunami.
