Darrell Smith

CUYAHOGA FALLS – Darrell “Little” G. Smith, 75, went home to be with the Lord on January 8, 2021. He fought a courageous 28-year battle with Parkinson’s disease. Darrell was born to the late Everett and Iva (McDaniel) Smith on July 19, 1945 in Acme, WV, raised in Cabin Creek, WV and lived in Cuyahoga Falls for 50 years. Darrell was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Darrell proudly served his country in the United States Airforce as a Senior Airman and served as an Aircraft mechanic 1963- 1967. He was also a highly valued 30-year employee of Ohio Bell /AT&T, retiring in 1995. Darrell was an extremely intelligent man that could fix anything and was always willing to help anyone in need. He enjoyed Jeopardy, crossword puzzles, gameshows, and his dog Popeye.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Iva (McDaniel) Smith; in-laws, Nelson and Bobbie (Freeman) Bennett; Sister-in-law, Sheila Smith; and Godmother and dear friend, Maggie Pozuc.

Darrell will be deeply missed by his wife of 52 years, Linda; children, Christopher (Susan Zwolinski) Smith, Colleen Smith-Parsons, Matthew Smith, Allison (Jeffery) Dick; grandchildren, Jessica (Michael) Grecol, Isabelle and Gabriel Dick, Emily Smith, Natalie, Julia, and Greta Parsons; son-in-law, Jason Parsons; Siblings, Boyd Neal (Giselle) Smith, Gary (Suzie) Smith, Harold “Biggie” (Sheila) Smith, Brenda “Kay” (Claude) Smith, Patricia “Patsy” (John) Massey; and will be missed by many other nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends.

The Family would also like to thank the VA and Community Caregivers. A visitation will be held at Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home on January 12, 2021 from 9am to 10:45am. A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cuyahoga Falls on January 12,2021 at 11am. Following the service Darrell will be laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery in Cuyahoga Falls.

In lieu of other remembrances memorials may be made to the National Parkinson’s Foundation, St. Joseph Catholic Church, or Walsh Jesuit High School.
