David Filing

On Saturday, November 13, 2021, David Peter Filing passed away at the age of 72. David was born on April 12, 1949. He was preceded in death by his mother, Fern, and father, Peter. He is survived by his wife Barbara, and stepson Brett Drummond; half brothers and half sisters, Jean (Pelletier) Corcoran, Elizabeth (Pelletier) Purden, George, Robert and Richard Pelletier, Anna (Pelletier) Molino, Janet (Pelletier) Moran, Rose (Pelletier) Grieshaber and Joseph Pelletier.

Dave was a Disney Aficionado. He worked at Disney World multiple times, and shared his love of Disney with anyone who would listen, listen, and listen. Dave had a love for traveling, music, theatre and a special passion for the pipe organ, having taken many lessons. He found great joy in playing the pipe organ at church. Dave joined the Cuyahoga Falls Lions Club in 1977, where he served as past President, along with several other committees over the years. Dave, K8DPF, was also a member of the Cuyahoga Falls Amateur Radio Club where he served as an officer, trustee, and newsletter editor. He also participated in most club events, and activities including the Hamfest, Field Day, and Foxhunting.

Dave graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1967. He then attended the University of Akron, attaining a B.S. in Technical Education, A.A.B. in Business Management, and a A.A.S. in Industrial Technology. He also studied Play Production at Kent State University.

Dave retired from Akron Public Schools as an electrician, prior to that he was the Manager of the Cuyahoga Falls High School Auditorium. He took great pride in keeping it up to code and loved that auditorium. He enjoyed talking about all of the great productions. He was very handy at fixing things, and always willing to lend a hand to anyone needing help. Dave had a personality larger than life.

A special thank you to his good friend, Bruce, who was always there for him, and to our neighbors who came to our aid during our time of need.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 21, 2021, from 2-4 pm at Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. The funeral service will be held on Monday, November 22, 2021, at 11 am, also at the funeral home with interment to follow at Rose Hill Burial Park, Akron, OH.  The family kindly asks that masks are worn at all services.
