PENISULA- David F. Perkinson, 69, of Peninsula, died peacefully Saturday, November 7, 2009 at the Hospice of the Western Reserve in Cleveland after a long struggle with cancer. Born December 23, 1939 in Buffalo, NY to Francis and Marion Perkinson, David leaves a multitude of beloved family members and friends. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, love, loyalty and consistent bravery in the face of his most formidable adversary. The breadth of those touched by David's life is a testament to the uniqueness of his spirit and openness of his heart. A captain in the United States Army, independent businessman, world traveler, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and husband; the richness of David's experiences and his contagious love of life will provide comfort to all who mourn his passing.
David is survived by his daughter Leissa Jackmauh of Dublin, Ireland; son David H. Perkinson of San Francisco, CA; Diana Perkinson of Bonita Springs, Florida; son-in-law Philip Jackmauh; daughter-in-law Sarah Perkinson; four grandchildren, Sarah and Matthew Jackmauh and Graham and Rowan Perkinson; sisters Judith Adamek, Jere Sonderman, Mary Caryl Perkinson and the late Joan Heary; brothers-in-law Raymond Adamek, Joe Sonderman and the late Francis Heary; 19 nieces and nephews and countless family members and close friends.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, November 12 at 11a.m. at the Mother of Sorrows Parish, in Dave's favorite city of Peninsula, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cleveland Clinic Foundation (www.clevelandclinic.org/isupport).
