"Together Again"

TALLMADGE-David Russell Spessard, 72, went to be with his wife, Karen on April 20, 2017 after a brief illness.

He was born in Cuyahoga Falls and resided in Tallmadge for the past 22 years. Dave graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1962, going on to earn a B.S. in education from Akron University. He was employed with Akron City Schools. Dave then retired from the First United Methodist Church after 25 years of service as maintenance supervisor. He enjoyed spending time with the preschool students particular being Santa Claus. Dave was an avid golfer and member of the Methodist Men's Golf League for 50 years, where he also served as secretary/treasurer. He loved traveling to the beach with Karen and driving his Mustang Convertible.

Preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Karen L.; parents, Carl and Thelma; He is survived by his sons, Scott (Jean) and Jeffrey; grandchildren, Mackenzie and Kyle; brother, Carl (Mary) Spessard; sister-in-law's, Marybeth (Dick) Morrison and Betsy (Charlie) Menickelly and many nieces and nephews; and his beloved golden retriever, Kaylee.

The family would like to express special thanks to the Summa Hospice staff particularly Meg, Laura and his nurse Jen from Bath Creek.

Friends may call 2 hours prior to a 12 PM memorial service on Monday April 24, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church 245 Portage Trail Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. Dr. David Baker will be officiating. In lieu of other remembrances memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church. Services entrusted to Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home and Crematory, 330-928-2147.
