David Lee Wilson, 61, passed away October 3, 2015. Dave was born in Columbus, OH and resided in Cuyahoga Falls since 1964 moving there from Lancaster, OH. He was a 1972 graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School and had attended both Kent State University and The University of Akron. He had worked part time while in High School for the Cuyahoga Falls Park and Recreation Department and Cuyahoga Falls City School District. He served as Bailiff of the Cuyahoga Falls Municipal Court from 1977 to 2007 serving under Judges William Pike and Kim Hoover and had worked part time as a painter and in house restorations.
Dave celebrated his retirement with a cross country trip in his pride and joy, his Triumph TR-6 and was a lifelong sports enthusiast. An active amateur league basketball player for many years, he coached in many youth league sports programs with and for Judge Mahoney. On two occasions he served as a member of the Cuyahoga Falls Board of Education, was a longtime member of the Cuyahoga Falls Lions Club and was an avid card player but only an average golfer.
Dave was preceded in death by his mother Dolores B. Wilson and is survived by his father, Harold E. Wilson; children, Brett Wilson (Megan) of Cuyahoga Falls, Patrick Wilson (Brooke) of St. Claire Shores, MI, Christopher Wilson (Shelly) of Chattanooga, TN and Lucas Wilson of Munroe Falls, OH; special friend and former wife, Mary Wilson of Munroe Falls, OH; brothers, Daniel Wilson (Sandy) of Pepper Pike, OH and Andrew Wilson (Jeanne) of Silver Lake, OH; sisters, Diane Arnold of Stow, OH and Erica Wilson of Akron, OH; niece Isabella Wilson and nephews Daniel Wilson, II, Matthew Wilson, Jack Wilson, Samuel Wilson, Earl Arnold Jr. and Bradley Arnold.
David was a people person. He gained many friends through sharing himself with others. The Cuyahoga Falls Schools taught David to give back to the community so future students would have all that the community and schools gave him. David was an enthusiastic supporter of all school and city civic activities. The family is establishing a Memorial Scholarship in David's memory with the Cuyahoga Falls Schools Foundation and Alumni Association, 431 Stow St. Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221 to carry on David's commitment to the Cuyahoga Falls Schools and the Students who attend them. You are invited to join this effort.
The family will greet friends from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Friday, October 23 in The Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home 1930 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls. A Memorial Service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Saturday, October 24 in St. John's Episcopal Church, Corner of 2nd St. and Portage Trail Cuyahoga Falls, Rev. Bill Tompkin officiating. Friends may also call at Church for one hour prior to service time. Services entrusted to Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home and Crematory, 330-928-2147.
