STOW- Donald F. Cannon, 89, passed away at his residence June 23, 2014. Mr. Cannon was born in Akron and had resided in Stow since 1994 and in Silver Lake for 25 years. He worked for The Personel Service Insurance Co. as a Branch Claim Manager retiring after 34 years service, was a Veteran of WWII having served with the U. S. Navy and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Cuyahoga Falls. He was a graduate of West High School, was a Sigma Nu at Mt Union College and had volunteered for Habitat for Humanity.
Preceded in death by his parents, Charles E. and Elizabeth Cannon; step-mother, Cherry K. Cannon, he is survived by his wife, Marie A.; daughter and son-in-law, Deon and Frank Dayton of Akron; son, Joseph C. Cannon of Westerville; grandchildren, Desiree and Jessica Lappert, Ashley West, Nakota Gless and Bobby Dayton; great-grandchildren, Haylee and Sirenity Lappert, Jayden Fenstermaker, Taiven King, Kayden Hunter and James West; sister, Patricia C. Jones of Houston, TX; nieces, Patti-Beth Jones, Leigh Faissal and Darriane Jones and nephews, Edward Ellis and Alex Faissal.
There will be no calling hours. A private graveside service for the family will be conducted at 11:00 am Friday, June 27 at Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum, Rev. Marvin Brown officiating. In lieu of other remembrances, memorials may be made to The First United Methodist Church 245 Portage Trail Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221 or Habitat for Humanity, 2301 Romig Rd. Akron, OH 44320.
