CUYAHOGA FALLS -Dottie Clifford (nee Mathis), 78, passed away peacefully October 20, 2008. Born in Akron, she was a life long resident of Cuyahoga Falls, graduating from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1948. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Cuyahoga Falls and had served on the Oakwood Cemetery Women's Board. With her husband, Bill, she helped establish and build the business and reputation of The Clifford Funeral Home and following Bill's death became president of the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home. She had also sold real estate for Gene Allen Realty. She was deeply devoted to her family and dearly loved and was very proud of her grandchildren.
Dottie made a friend of everyone she met. She was a very kind, loving and caring person. Her door was always open.
Preceded in death by her husband, Bill and son, Billy, Dottie is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Marty and Ken Shoemaker of Coventry Twp. and Penny and Gary Slovisky of Brownsville, TX; grandchildren, Tracy and Steve Shoemaker and Sean Slovisky; loving extended family and many dear friends, including her best friend, Dovie Croy and family.
The Family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 9:00 pm Thursday in The Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home 1930 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls where a Funeral Service will be conducted at 1:00 pm Friday, Rev. Marvin Brown officiating. Interment Oakwood Cemetery.
