CUYAHOGA FALLS - Dorothy Marie Scarpellini (Ganocy), 89, died peacefully on Sunday, April 10, 2011, following a brief illness.

She was born February 7, 1922 in Gray's Landing, PA to Stephan and Mary Ganocy. A resident of Cuyahoga Falls for 63 years, she was a founding member of St. Eugene Catholic Church and a retiree of the Cuyahoga Falls School System. Dorothy's life was defined by the roles she cherished most dearly, being a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, friend and neighbor. She was an avid cook, baker, gardener and reader. She was much loved and admired for her kindness, strong faith and hope, work ethic and generosity. This precious woman will be greatly missed by her loving family and dear friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Louis Paul Scarpellini, six brothers and a sister. She is survived by son Al Scarpellini and his wife Denise of Louisville, KY; daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and John Hagerman of Akron; Lorrie and Martin Schur of Akron; daughter Dian Scarpellini of Tallmadge; and grandson Jason Scarpellini of Louisville, KY. Also surviving are Rose and Roland Platz, Frank Klettlinger and many devoted nieces, nephews and friends.

The family extends special thanks to Dorothy's loving, caring and compassionate caregivers, Loretta, Cindy Lee and Lisa.

Friends may call from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday April 13 and from 9:30 to 10:30 am Thursday April 14 in The Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home 1930 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am Thursday, April 14 at St. Eugene's Catholic Church. Interment Oakwood Cemetery. Arrangements handled by Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 330-928-2147
