SILVER LAKE - Duane N. Scott, 81, passed away March 2, 2011. Mr. Scott was raised in Cuyahoga Falls and resided in Silver Lake for the last 23 years. He was a 1947 graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School where he was very active in athletics. He received the Cuyahoga Falls High School Distinguished Alumni Award in 1999. Duane earned his BA from Kent State University in Finance, after serving in the Korean War with the U. S. Army. He served as Finance Director for the City of Cuyahoga Falls as well as councilman for the cities of Cuyahoga Falls and Silver Lake. Duane retired as Director of the Ohio Municipal Advisory Council in 1992. Other memberships include St. John's Episcopal Church where he had served on the Vestry and volunteered at "Soups On", the Cuyahoga Falls Lions Club where he was past President and Life Member as well as recipient of the Melvin Jones Award. He was also an avid stamp collector and a charter member of the Scott Family Cowboy Club.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond G. and Evelyn Scott. Duane is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Lucille; daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Daniel Lance of Cuyahoga Falls and Sandra (Stroup) and David Dimengo of the City of Green; son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Victoria Scott of Silver Lake; grandchildren, Brandon (Laura) Lance, Nathanial Lance, Jeffrey Stroup, Caitlin Stroup and Emily Stroup; sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Kenneth Foglesong of Stow; brother and sister-in-law, Don and Carol Scott of Dallas, Texas and several nieces and nephews as well as his faithful dog, Bella.
The family would like to thank the entire staff of Traditions Elderly Care Facility for the wonderful care and friendship they gave to Duane.
Friends may call on Sunday, March 6 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at The Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home 1930 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 am Monday, March 7 at Saint John's Episcopal Church, 2220 2nd St. Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221, Rev. Bill Tompkin officiating. Friends may call at Church for one hour prior to service time. Interment Northlawn Memorial Gardens.
