Ed (Ziggy)

Fairlawn - Ed Ziegler (Ziggy) passed away on November 22, 2016 after a hard-fought battle against lung cancer. He was born January 17, 1942, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, grew up in Western Pennsylvania and Youngstown, Ohio. He was a graduate of Youngstown University, earned a masters degree from University of South Carolina and a doctorate from Kent State University where he taught until his retirement. His career also included teaching high school, business planning at the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company and Sales Management for Cole Consumer Products. He was an avid golfer and spent many Saturdays at Good Park Golf Course and Barberton Brookside Country Club. He was a resident of Fairlawn, Ohio for 30 years. He was a member of Bailey Road Christian Church for 39 years where he served as Congregation Chairman, Elder and Deacon.

Preceded in death by parents, Frank W. and Lauretta L. Ziegler and son, Mark E. Ziegler, he is survived by wife of 39 years, Maureen A. Ziegler; sons Jeffrey (Carol) Ziegler, Scott (Shirley) Ziegler and five grandchildren; Rory, Natalie, Leah, Zia and Veda. He also leaves behind his trusted mongrels, Skipper and Zoey.

The family would like to thank Dr. Gregory Manson, Dr. Gray Pinta and the nurses and aides from Akron General VNS Hospice who helped us through this final journey.
Family will be receiving friends at the Clifford -Shoemaker Funeral Home 1930 Front Street, Cuyahoga Falls, OH from 4-7 PM on Monday November 28, 2016. A memorial service will be conducted by Rev. Timothy Brown at 11 AM on Tuesday November 29 at the Bailey Road Christian Church at 3200 West Bailey Road, Cuyahoga Falls, OH. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Bailey Road Christian Church Building Fund or a charity of your choice.
