Edwin McKinley

Edwin R. McKinley, 93 passed way peacefully June 20, 2017.

Ed was born in Akron, Ohio to Edward and Leah (Keirn) McKinley, graduated from Central High School, served with the 4th Armored Division under General Patton during WWII, graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Akron and worked at several of Akron's rubber companies, both here and in Texas. He enjoyed being an engineer, square dancing, hiking, gardening, flowers, music, traveling and baseball. He volunteered as an usher at E. J. Thomas and was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Cuyahoga Falls. He was a 50 year member of Star Lodge No. 187 F.andA.M., Lions and Kiwanis. He was a devoted husband and father.

Preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Winnie in 2008. He is survived by his children, Jim (Judy) McKinley of Indian Trail, NC, John (Mary) of Cuyahoga Falls and Susan (Scott Brown) McKinley of Waukesha, WI, grandchildren, Joni (Mike) Sappington, Heather (Seth) Stevens, Kate (Melissa Kennedy) McKinley, Maggie (Dubravka Maric) McKinley, Molly (Jeff) Dills and Megan (Stu) Deal; great-grandchildren, Lynsie, Alex, Nathan, Joshua, Ashlyn, Asher and Daisy and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Special thanks to all the people at Danbury Woods who took such wonderful care of Dad.

Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday June 23 in the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St, Cuyahoga Falls. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 24 at the United Presbyterian Church, 2819 Hudson Dr., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221, Rev Carolyn Griffeth officiating. Interment Rose Hill Burial Park. Military Honors provided by American Legion Charles Faust Post 281. Memorials may be made to his church in his memory.
