Edwin Metz died peacefully on December 9, 2017 after a long illness.
Born on April 4, 1930 to parents Dola and Cleo in Leatherbark WV, Ed attended Stow High and served in the U.S. army in the Korean War during the Chosin Reservoir campaign. Ed spent most of his adult life in Cuyahoga Falls operating Metz Construction.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Irene Leach Metz; his daughter, Tracie Childress, his stepsons Dale and Ray (Jennifer) Leach; his brother Kenneth, nine grandchildren (Rachel (Chad), Charlie (Ashley), Allison, Danielle (Frank), Nichole, Dawn (Justin), David, Hannah and Audrey) and six great grandchildren (Laken, Keeley, Garrison, E.J., Margo and Hastings). Ed was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Robert and Tom, daughter Deborah and son Russell. He spent his years working diligently in his business and spending time with family and friends attending auto races, bowling, playing cards and at his cabin in West Virginia.
Calling hours to be held on Saturday December 16, 2017 at the Clifford Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front Street, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221, from noon to 2pm with a service starting at 2:00pm.
