Eleanor McDonnell

Uniontown- Eleanor McDonnell, 89,went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, peacefully on February 6, 2024.

Eleanor was born April 1, 1934, in Akron, 32,818 days of love. Ellie was a lifelong educator and a devoted member of The Chapel in Green. Ellie met Arch, her future husband, at Kent State University. The two were married in 1957.

Ellie enjoyed nature, feeding the birds, cooking for others, and quilt making. She was a faithful member of her bible study group.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Julie (Dwayne) Purcell; daughter-in-law, Doris Anderson; grandchildren, Sheri (Phil) Ciccarelli, Whitney (Charles) Shakar, Rachel (Nick) Delagrange, Josh Purcell, and Dane Sylvest; great-grandchildren, Grant, Ford, Shelby, Chloe, and Luca; and special friend, Jim Ulm.

Ellie was preceded in death by her parents, James, and Mary Bland; husband of 59 years, Arch; son, Michael McDonnell; and granddaughter, Nikki Sylvest.

Memorial visitation to honor Ellie will take place Friday, February 9, 2024, from 2:00 until 3:00 pm at Clifford Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front Street, Cuyahoga Falls, 44221. A service will follow directly at 3:00pm.
