CUYAHOGA FALLS - Elva Loretta Higgins Klotz, age 91, passed away on August 21, 2011. She was born April 18, 1920 in Akron, Ohio and lived in Cuyahoga Falls since 1948.

Her life was centered on love of God and family and service to others and her community. She was active in her church, serving on the Parish Council and as a lector and lay distributor at St Bernard's. She was a founding member of IHM Parish in the Falls.

During WWII, Loretta was one of the "Rosie the Riveters", building the B-26 bomber. Mrs Klotz was the secretary at St Mary's High School and earlier served as the President of the Parents' Club. Her lifelong dedication to social justice led her to join Common Cause in 1972. She built and coordinated a telephone network of over 500 people in the 14th Congressional District, working for campaign finance reform. She was an active member of the Falls Cancer Club since 1985, serving as Treasurer and chairing many fundraising events. She also worked at the polls for many elections over 25 years.

Loretta is loved, remembered and celebrated by her husband of 42 years, Bill Klotz, and children Jean (Sig) Cronauer of New Hartford, CT, Lynne (Bill) Ameling of Vashon, WA and Greg (Nancy) Higgins of Tigard, Oregon, eight grandchildren: Genevieve, Will, Michael, Joseph, Matthew, Kaitlin, Andrew, Emilie, and five great-grandchildren: Leo, Olivia, Ava, Jeremy and Lucas.

Loretta was predeceased by her parents Jacob and Iva Goff, sister Vesta (Norman) Varner, brother James Goff and dear friend Marjorie Kneale. Her first husband, Bernard Higgins, died in 1965. She is also survived by her brother Woodrow (Lillian) Goff and many other relatives and friends.
