CUYAHOGA FALLS - Eugene "Gino" DeRita, 89, passed away February 23, 2015.
He was a lifelong resident of Cuyahoga Falls, served in the U.S. Army 27th Division in WWII and was a member of St. Eugene Catholic Church, American Legion Post 281, VFW Post 1062, Disabled American Vets Chapter 35, and Cuyahoga Falls Eagles 2207. Gino loved to golf and was a collector of trains, trucks and pewter cars.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Elsie; children, Margaret J. (Vincent) Patrino of Dover, OH, Ronald J. DeRita Sr. of Ft. Meyers, FL, Susan J. (Michael) Brown of Live Oak, FL and Paul L. DeRita of Cuyahoga Falls; 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; brothers, Mickey (Bonnie) DeRita of Munroe Falls and William (Donna) DeRita of TX.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 27 at 11:00 am in St. Eugene Catholic Church 1821 Munroe Falls Ave. Cuyahoga Falls, OH, 44221. Inurnment in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
In lieu of other remembrances, memorials may be made to Freedom House, 1213 Anita Dr, Kent, OH 44240.
