Evelyn Schendel

CUYAHOGA FALLS - Evelyn H. Schendel, 92, passed away November 8, 2014, joining her Savior and many loved ones in Heaven. She was born Evelyn Sahn in Chicago and has resided in Cuyahoga Falls since 1985. Although Evelyn worked in accounting for Western Electric for 18 years, she regarded her duties as a wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker as her true calling in life. Since 1985, Evelyn attended Redeemer Lutheran Church regularly, where she was an active member of Redeemer Women in Mission and also a Stephen Minister.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, Frank Counter (1979) and Reynold Schendel (2007), and sons, Earl, Donald and Charles Counter. Evelyn is survived by her children, Barbara Kohlmann, Sharon (Jack) Donovan, Ronald (Kathy) Counter, and step-daughters, Brenda (David) Lietz and Diane (Phillip) Backhus. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.
Evelyn and her family wish to express their heart-felt gratitude for the loving care that the staff at Sunrise Assisted Living has shown her since early 2008. Appreciation is also due the care-givers at Harbor Light Hospice who also attended to her needs in the past two years. She enjoyed visits from many friends at her Sunrise home.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial celebration will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Cuyahoga Falls, at 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 22, with calling hours at the church one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of other remembrances, memorials may be made to the Honduras Mission Effort of Redeemer Lutheran Church or to the Alzheimer's Association. Services entrusted to Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 330-928-2147.
