Francis (Frank) Joseph Klinger, 91, died peacefully at his home on Nov. 4th after a long and happy life adored by his loving family.
Frank was born on a farm along with his 9 siblings in Watertown, OH. As a child of the depression, he learned the skill of trapping to afford basic necessities such as a visit to the dentist. As he grew older, he worked as a farmhand before joining the army. He was part of the "Greatest Generation", serving his country during WWII in the battle of Okinawa. After the war he attended and graduated from Kent State University where he played 3rd base and was the captain of the Golden Flashes baseball team. He was drafted by the St. Louis Browns and has been a lifelong Cardinals fan. He worked at Goodyear Aerospace until retiring, after which he enjoyed working on his golf game and staying at his vacation home in Hilton Head.
He always claimed that his real achievement was meeting his wife Nan. He first saw her at The Newman Center and later met her at a penny carnival at Kent State University. His persistence and tenacity paid off as he eventually won her heart and hand in marriage. They were married 49 years; Nan died just short of their golden wedding anniversary.
Frank is survived by his 6 children: Lee, Rick (Carol), Lori, Kim (Jeremy) White, Tami (Bob) Stamets, and Mia. He also leaves behind 13 grandchildren: Ava, Sonya, Aubrey, Ashley, Elliot, Amelia, Adelaide, Annabel, Hali, Richard, Stephen, Jessica, and Michael.
The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care Frank received from VNS Hospice Care, Nurses Norma and Tim, Dr. Molly Scantling, Devoted Companions, and especially Stoja Sejdak.
