CUYAHOGA FALLS - Franklin J. Lewis, 92, passed away February 21, 2009.
Born in Cuyahoga Falls, Mr. Lewis was a lifetime resident, graduating from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1934. He started his career in the family business, The Brookland's- a gas station, garage, and then a hardware store. He ended up as a supervisor at Hunt Machine and Manufacturing. Franklin was an avid hunter, fisherman, boater, traveler, and bowler. He had a wry (or dry) sense of humor, was a good provider, and enjoyed family get togethers. Family was of major importance to him. He was also a member of First United Methodist Church of Cuyahoga Falls.
Preceded in death by daughter Kathryn "Kitty" Sykes, grandson Jason Sykes, brother Art, and sister Ethel Crummel, he is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lucille; sons James (Robin) of Virginia Beach, VA, and William (Dianna) of Cuyahoga Falls; son-in-law John Sykes of Cuyahoga Falls; grandchildren Jonas Sykes, Franklin, Cody, and Colton Lewis; great grandchildren, Grace, Jason, and Isabella; and several nieces and nephews.
The Family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 pm Wednesday in The Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 10:00 am Thursday at The First United Methodist Church of Cuyahoga Falls, 245 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221, Rev. Marvin Brown officiating.
Interment will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Should you desire, memorials may be made to First Church or a charity of your choice.
