"Together Again"
CUYAHOGA FALLS - Fred L. Osterhout, 89, passed away March 8, 2017.
Born at home on Andover Street, he was an 89 year resident of Cuyahoga Falls. He attended Falls Schools (almost regularly) then enlisted in the U.S. Army serving 1945-1947. Fred bought his first car (A Model T Ford ) at age 11. His dad helped him get it running, then taught him to drive. Forever "Hooked", he traded cars like others bought bread - frequently! He enjoyed his career with the City of Cuyahoga Falls, serving first as a mechanic at the City Garage, then for more than 24 years as a Firefighter with CFFD.
Predeceased by his parents "Baldy" and Hazel, his wife June (Sallaz) Osterhout of 56 years and his BFF/brother-in-law Ted Sallaz 6 weeks ago, he is survived by sister-in-law Pat Sallaz, nephews Carroll Sallaz, Bob (Charlotte) Sallaz, Bill (Sherri) Sallaz, niece Sherrie Sallaz, two great-nieces, a great nephew and their respective families.
Friends may call from 2 to 3 pm before the "Last Alarm" Service at 3 pm Friday, March 10, 2017 in the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St, Cuyahoga Falls 44221 with final remarks by family.
