Frederick J. Hummel

Frederick "Fred" James Hummel passed away unexpectedly on July 25, 2022.

He was born on April 23, 1975, in Akron. He grew up in Cuyahoga Falls and was a 1993 graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School.

Fred went on to Ohio University, where he was a Beta Theta Pi fraternity member. Upon graduating with a degree in finance in 1997, Fred worked for Moskal Klein in Cleveland before joining the family business, the Silver Swan Tavern, full-time in 2001. Fred and his father, Jim, worked together every day for the next 15 years until Jim's passing in December 2015. Fred carried on the family legacy until his passing.

An avid golfer and Cleveland sports fan through and through, Fred was always ready to talk sports or join friends on the fairway. He was a kind and generous man who will be missed by all who knew him. The story of Fred's life had many pages and chapters, but it was a love story in the end. Evidenced by all of the lives he touched. All that knew and loved him are part of his story. We ask that you honor his memory by filling the pages of your story with kindness, forgiveness, patience, generosity, and most of all, love. Put one foot in front of the other and keep on going.

He is preceded in death by his father, Jim. He is survived by his mother, Kathy; sister, Carrie (Greg) Snyder; niece, Isabella Snyder (Zack Mettler); nephews, Maxwell and Collin Snyder; best friend Meagan Gies and her family; much loved aunts, uncles, and cousins; loving friends, and his Silver Swan family.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service.
