CUYAHOGA FALLS - Fred Mourey, 57, passed away December 12, 2009 after a courageous and determined battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease)..
Born February 11, 1952, Fred was a lifelong resident of Cuyahoga Falls. He graduated in 1970 from Cuyahoga Falls High School. He attended Ohio State University and graduated from the University of Akron with a B.A. degree.
Fred was a gifted speaker and walking sports encyclopedia. He broadcasted local High School football, and until recently was the host of the "Joe Average Poker" Show. He was an alumni backer of Akron U and until recently attended every basketball and football game. Fred was also a gourmand, who enjoyed the finest of foods. He played and coached baseball and softball, locally, for many years. He also was an avid; golfer.
Preceded in death by his mother Mildred and father Frederick, he is survived by his loving family, his dedicated wife, Ildiko, his daughter Andrea, son Steven, and mother-in-law Goldie. Their love for Fred was unconditional and he was the light of their life. He will also be missed by many dear and close friends. He was definitely an inspiration and joy to be around.
Cremation has taken place. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday in the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St, Cuyahoga Falls OH 44221 where a Memorial Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Chaplain Rick Kudasick officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the family through the Funeral Home.
