Gail M (Hayden) Sampson passed away on February 12, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Jesse, and three sons, Baby Boy Hayden, John “Mark” Hayden, and Jesse Hayden III. She is survived and genuinely missed by her husband of fifty-two years, Glenn Sampson; her children, Deborah Hayden, Kimberly Cole, Sandra Cullen, Robin (Jeff) Lucas, Robert (Cindi) Hayden. From her children, she was blessed with grandchildren: Julie Buchanan, Patrick (Stephanie) Doonan, Gail (Luis) Hayden, Megan (JR) Doonan, Michele Hayden, Susan (Wil) Chaich, Danyelle Hayden, Jessica (Derek) Rogers, Taylor (Charles) Filson, Ashley (Robert) Bonenfant, Sandra Cole, Bryan (Jonathan) Cullen, and Katelyn Kimble, as well as 15 great grandchildren.
Gail was born in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania on April 7, 1934. To say that Gail was active would be an understatement. From traveling to Pennsylvania every week to care for family, sometimes more than once in the same week to bowling at North Lanes on multiple teams and leagues or hiking every season through the Metroparks, sometimes with multiple grandchildren in tow, she was a constant presence in everyone's lives and always made time to be there when we needed her. She was an active member of the Pilgrim Church for many years. When she was home relaxing with Glenn, she could be found making photo albums for each of her grandchildren and great grandchildren or crafting; making sweatshirts and Christmas ornaments. She spent hours researching the family tree and making guides for everyone to learn a little more about where we came from, tracing some genealogy back all the way to the knights of the round table. If there was a school event, graduation, party, or even just a family dinner at Pizza Hut or Luigis, she was always there, always with a smile, and always exceptionally well put together.
Gail was full of love for everyone around her. She had a kind, happy spirit that shined from within, and her light will continue to shine in the hearts of Glenn, her children, or her grandchildren, as well as those who knew her well.
The family will receive friends from 12-1 PM on Friday February 16, 2024, at Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home in Cuyahoga Falls, where a funeral service will be held immediately following at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association research at www.act.alz.org.
