Garnett Fay Canfield, 80, of Minerva, Ohio, passed away Monday September 10, 2007. Garnett was born in Portage Lakes, OH. She graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High. In her teen years Garnett played on the local softball team. She was scouted for the women's professional league but her mother did not approve. Garnett made an exploratory trip to California in 1952. She returned to Ohio for a short period of time before moving to California. On retirement in 1991 she returned to her native Ohio to live. Garnett worked in the electronic field as an inspector for various companies until she went to work for Aero Products, a Division of Litton Industries. Her dedication and perfection led to a managerial position. She remained with the company for 30 years. Garnett is preceded in death by her parents Lida & Carl Canfield, two brothers, Charles and Palmer, and sister Opal.
She is survived by two sisters, Deloris Cameron of the home and Alma Canfield of Stow, sister-in-law Leora Canfield of Cuyahoga Falls, brother-in-law Bill Horne of Uniontown, nephews William Cameron, Christopher Canfield and nieces Christine Canfield, Lorrie & husband Jim Valtos. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Cuyahoga Falls. No Services.
