Gary Collinson

After a valiant 3 year battle with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, Gary peacefully passed away on March 1, 2024 in the presence of his family. 

Gary is survived by his beloved family, wife of 45 years, Pamela, daughter Kristen (David) Hester and son Jeff (Connie) Collinson. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, the lights of his life, Holly Tissue, Chad (Lydia) Tissue, Cassidy Lucas (Dave Van Zummeren), Justin Keen and JD Collinson. He leaves behind brothers, Tom (Mary) Collinson, Jim (Bonnie) Collinson, and sister Dixie, sister-in-law, Kathy Kessler and brother-in-law John Clendenen, step-mother, Ella Collinson, niece Diana (Keith) Miller, nephews, Tim Collinson (Petey Cupler), Andy (Kristi) Kessler, Jesse (Amber) Burghardt, many cousins and extended family. 

Gary was preceded in death by mother, Juanita Collinson and father, Marvin Collinson, brother and sister-in-law David and Nancy Collinson, brother-in-law, Bruce Kessler. 

Gary was a proud Teamster, retiring from Local 24 and YRC in 2010. He was a member of the Akron Teamster Retiree Club and enjoyed his many friendships there. Gary was also a proud Oriental, graduating from East High in 1967. He had lifelong friendships with many of his school friends, routinely meeting up for lunch, golf or other events.   

Gary was a member of the Akron Bridge Association and spent many years on the Akron Bridge Board. He was an avid player and was loved at the table. 

A Celebration of Life is being planned for March 30. Details will be shared when available.
