CUYAHOGA FALLS - George Richard Blocksom, 93, passed away September 2, 2017.
He was a 1942 graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School. George served in the U.S. Navy Armed Guards during WWII 4 years sea duty (Atlantic). He worked as a store manager for Krogers going on to retire from the University of Akron. George was a member of the American Legion Charles Faust Post # 281 for 74 years.
Preceded in death by his wives, Betty Jane and Lucille; daughter, Charlene S. Gongaware, and brother, Robert B.; he is survived by his sons, George Jr. and Mark E.; daughters, Jackie Burkley and Michelle L Luke; 8 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and brother, William.
The family would like to express special thanks to his hospice nurse, Bridget for her loving care.
Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held at 11 AM Friday September 8, 2017 at Northlawn Memorial Gardens 4742 State Rd. Peninsula, OH 44264. Services entrusted to Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home and Crematory, 330-928-2147.
