George Clyde Hopkins, 87 passed away July 4, 2015. Born April 25, 1928 to George and Edgerton Hopkins in Akron. He graduated from Akron South High School and was a resident of Stow, Tallmadge and Cuyahoga Falls.
Employed as a machinist Clyde also was a professional musician playing sax, clarinet and flute while leading The Clyde Hopkins' Orchestra throughout northeast Ohio.
He was an antique glassware dealer traveling from Ohio to Florida buying and selling his treasures. Clyde enjoyed bicycling, boating, collegiate sports and musical events. He wintered many seasons with his friends in Lakeland, Florida.
Preceded in death by wife Annette and loving companion, Charlene Wert, Clyde is survived by stepchildren, Lori and Mark, Charlene's children Kim, Jeff, Greg, Lauree and Tammy and his many friends and caring staff at GreenView Senior Assisted Living.
Inurnment at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. There are no services or calling hours at Clyde's request. Lift a glass and have a kind word for another in his memory.
