Gertrude M. Edgecomb "Boots" Soisson

Gertrude M. Edgecomb 92, passed away peacefully April 29, 2015. Born in Connelsville, PA, moved to the area at the age of 4. She was raised in the Cuyahoga Falls and Akron area. She graduated from Central High under the name Gertrude George, where she loved being a cheerleader. Married in 1941, she traveled with her husband while he served in the US Navy during WWII. They would have been married 74 years this year. They raised their children in the Cuyahoga Falls and Portage Lakes areas, where she was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary and then St. Frances De Sales Catholic Churches. Retiring from the Kroger Co. after 25 years, they enjoyed almost 20 years in Hudson, FL., before returning to Springfield Township to live with family.

Preceded in death by husband Clarence Edgecomb, daughter Karen, sons Charles (Chipper) and Paul (Red) along with grandson Scott Edgecomb. She is survived by sons Gordon (Tina), Zephyrhills, Fl., John, Akron, Oh, daughters Janice Walton, Murfreesboro, TN, Beverly (Art) Ely, Springfield Township, Lynn (Mike) Patti, Akron, OH, grandchildren Mark Glockner (Emily), Lauren (Scott) Goff, Jennifer (Chris) Odom, Beau (Amber) Walton, Robin (Matthew) Ackles, Steven Edgecomb, Kathi Edgecomb, lots of loving great grandchildren, and lots of loving nieces and nephews. Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, Auntie Boots, we will all miss you! Special thanks to Crossroads Hospice for their understanding and support.

Friends may call Friday, July 31, 2015, 6 to 9 p.m. in the Clifford Shoemaker Funeral, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio 44221 where a memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Interment will be held 11 a.m. on August 1st at Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made to a Serviceman's family or a Veterans Charity of your choice.
