CUYAHOGA FALLS - Glen Alan Williams of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, was born September 30, 1931, in LaPorte, Indiana to Harry and Ethel Williams, and passed away at his residence on October 27, 2014.
Glen graduated from LaPorte High School in 1949, and from Purdue University in 1953 with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. He served in the U.S. Army from February 1954 to February 1956 in Washington, D.C. where he met and married his wife, Betty Tope, September 10, 1955. They moved to Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio after his discharge.
While employed at Goodyear as a chemical engineer, Glen pursued legal studies under the G.I Bill and graduated from Akron Law School (now Akron University law school) with his J.D in 1961. He practiced law until retiring in 2006. Glen became interested in politics in 1960 and was involved in several campaigns, some his own; he actively supported such candidates as Barry Goldwater and George Wallace. He was affectionately known by his friends as "the judge", although never elected as such. He enjoyed visiting with friends at the Elks Club and American Legion, and was especially fond of playing pinochle each week with his buddies who gave him his "Mr Aces" plaque. He also enjoyed visiting with his grandchildren.
In the 60s he joined Masonic Lodge 718 and became a York Rite Mason eventually attaining the York Rite Cross of Honor (Master of Blue Lodge, High Priest of Washington Chapter, Illustrious Master of Council and Commander of Commandery). He also joined the Elks (B.P.O.E.) and was a past Exalted Ruler.
Glen was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Betty; his parents, Harry and Ethel; his elder brother, Harry; and his daughter, Norma. He is survived by his children; Kathy (Steve) Einselen of Mansfield, Dorothy Davis of Chillicothe, Amy (Scott) Diese of Akron, and Alan Williams of the residence; his grandchildren Sarah, Abby and Jonathan Einselen; Zachary, Elizabeth and Emily Davis; Matthew King; and Derek and Rachael Diese; and his siblings, Carl (Lynn) Williams of Winona Lake, Indiana; and Elna Lewis of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Cremation has taken place. A private military tribute will be held for the family; afterward they will receive friends at the American Legion, 1601 Front Street, Cuyahoga Falls, from 5:00 to 8:00pm on Thursday October 30, 2014. Services entrusted to Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 330-928-2147.
