CUYAHOGA FALLS - Glenn D. Detrow passed away Thursday, February 1, 2007, in Cuyahoga Falls. He was 89. He was born June 13, 1917, in Salem, Ohio, and graduated from Salem High School. In 1941 he married Ruth Jean Clapp, who survives him after more than 65 years of marriage. He served in the United States Army during World War II, and was honorably discharged in 1943. Following the war he served in the Ohio Defense Corps, attaining the rank of Captain.
He worked for more than 30 years before retiring from the Morse Instrument Company (later Rockwell) in Hudson.
Glenn was an active member of the First Christian Church of Cuyahoga Falls for more than 50 years, holding numerous church offices and also serving as youth leader. During the last few years he worked in the tape ministry, delivering audio tapes of worship services to shut-ins.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Carl (Carol) of Redlands, CA; Jay (Lynne), of Greenville, SC; and Tom (Marilyn), of Chapin, SC; 7 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 8, 2007, at Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home 1930 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls, Rev. Gail Lindsey officiating. The family will receive guests for 1 hour prior to services. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery in Salem.
