Gloria (Smith)

CUYAHOGA FALLS - Gloria Jean Karam (Smith) 76, passed away November 6, 2015.
Gloria was born in Youngstown, OH. She graduated from Akron General School of Nursing where she met her best friend Carol (Dick) Curry, who was with her until the end. She worked at both Akron General and Falls General as a Surgical Nurse, then as a Director of Surgery. She was a lifelong member of St. Josephs Melkite Church. She was the best partner and wife with her husband in every endeavor he took from real estate to any other venture.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Elias Smith and Julia Assed Smith and is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, Elias Karam; sons, Daniel (Laura) Karam, Tony (Patty) Karam, six grandchildren, Anthony, Nick, Gabrielle, Aleah, Daniel and Luke Karam; two sisters, Sandra (Tony) Laktash and Karen (Tim) Nye, sister-in-law, Nabiha Karam. She leaves many other nephews and nieces, Fadi (Fran) Choujaa, Saade Choujaa, Fida (Rafaa) Hamdan, Marwan (Tracie)Touma, Zenia (Elie) Abdallah, Ziad (Holly) Elia, Richard and Roger Karam. Dolly (Jim) Burkhardt, Rima (Tim) McCrady, Samir and Sam (Carri) Haddad, who thought of her as "My Other Mother" and her niece Nesrene who followed in her footsteps in the healthcare field; twenty-five great-nephews and nieces and two great great-nephews.

Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2015 in the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St, Cuyahoga Falls. A Funeral Mass will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at St. Josephs Melkite Catholic Church, 600 W Exchange St, Akron OH 44302. Interment Northlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of other remembrances, memorials may be made to St. Josephs Melkite Catholic Church and St. George Antiochian Church, 3204 Ridgewood Rd, Akron, OH 44333. Services entrusted to Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home and Crematory, 330-928-2147.
