Gregory Novelli

CUYAHOGA FALLS - Gregory Anthony Novelli, of Cuyahoga Falls, passed away on November 4, 2021 from complications related to Alzheimer's Disease. He was 71 years old.
Greg was born on June 10, 1950 in Akron, OH and lived his entire life in the Akron/Cuyahoga Falls area. He was a 1968 graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School. He then attended and graduated from DuPage Horticulture School in West Chicago. On January 15, 1972 Greg and his wife Barbara were married, and in March of that same year, began their career as owners of Novelli Floral & Greenhouse for 43 years.

Greg's craftsmanship with flowers touched the lives of many and he could make anything flourish in his greenhouses. He took great pride in his work and customers became family and life-long friends. He was deeply rooted in his faith and his Italian heritage. Greg's ultimate joy was his family. He was extremely close with his 4 children...always ready to teach them & help them with life's most valuable lessons. His grandchildren were the apple of his eye and he adored every moment with them. In his spare time, you could find him doing yardwork, working in his garden, listening to Italian Music, cooking with lots of garlic, eating strong cheese and enjoying homemade wine. To all that knew him...knew a kind, gentle and humble man. He gave with no expectations and loved fiercely. He will forever hold a special place in our hearts and the hearts of many.

Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Philomena Novelli; father-in-law, Walter Grimes; and a host of family members and friends. Together they are rejoicing, drinking wine and saying Salute!

Greg is survived by his wife of 49 years, Barbara; his children: Philip (Cindy) Novelli, Francesca (Dr. Paul) Bishop, Paul (Heather) Novelli, Maria Novelli & Fiancé Scott Hovey; his grandchildren: Shawna, Anna, Cameron, Carina, Allison, Cassie, Philomena and Joseph; brother: Michael Novelli; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Chip and Barb Grimes and mother-in-law: Eleanor Grimes. He will also be greatly missed by many close family members and life-long friends.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to the friends and caregivers at The Gardens of Cuyahoga Falls and to Mary from VNS Hospice for their loving care of Greg.

Guests are welcome for visitation from 5-8pm on Thursday, Nov. 11, 2021 at Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am on Friday, Nov. 12, 2021 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church 1761 2nd St. Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. Interment at Chestnut Hill Cemetery immediately following.
