CUYAHOGA FALLS - Harry Doyle Davis, 87, went to be with the Lord on August 4, 2016. He was preceded in death by his wife and love of his life, Jean Annette Davis; parents Edwin and Ida Davis (stepmother Pearl); and brothers, J.R., Bill, George and (Rose Marie) Davis; as well as in-laws Lewis and Mrytle Wise.
He was born in Cuyahoga Falls, where he was a lifelong resident. Harry graduated from Cuyahoga Falls H.S. in 1947, where he played on the football team. Harry enlisted in the Army/Foreign Legion and acted as Mess Hall Sergeant during the Korean War. Harry was employed by the City of Cuyahoga Falls for thirty plus years and worked as a Meter Reader and in the payroll department until he retired in 1988. He was a lifelong member of Cuyahoga Falls Baptist Church, where he was an active volunteer for the Lord. Harry enjoyed baking, golfing, gambling, reunion dinners with the old High School gang, AARP bus trips, and traveling with his family. (Especially to Hershey Chocolate World, PA.)
Harry loved the Lord and his family very much. He was a very loving and attentive husband, father, grandfather, uncle and brother.
Harry is survived by daughter Susan (Lewis) Harden; grandchildren, Cheryl (Eric) Gabriel, Kyle (Jackie) Davis, Jill (Rod) Harden, Jennifer (Eric) Harden, Lewis Tyler Harden; and great-grandchildren, Maximus, Brooke, Amiah, Avah, Aiden and Christian; brother, Bob and wife Ellen Davis and their children, Beth (Terry), Shannon, Ted (Chrissy) and Brian (Tara); nephews, Ed (Linda) Davis, Steve Davis and niece, Cynthia Davis.
Pastor Jill Smith will be officiating a Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 9 in the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St, Cuyahoga Falls where the Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service with funeral procession following to Crown Hill Cemetery in Twinsburg. In lieu of other remembrances, memorials may be made to Hospice of Medina, 5075 Windfall Rd., Medina, OH 44256. Services entrusted to Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home and Crematory, 330-928-2147.
