CUYAHOGA FALLS - Helen (Hafler) Brownlee passed away August 25, 2015, after a year-long battle with cancer. Helen is survived by husband of 42 years, Harold Russell Brownlee (Russ); sister, Grace (Henry) Dobersztyn, sister, MaryAnn Mullahy, and brother, Thomas Hafler; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by parents Mary (Dube) and Thomas Hafler, Sr.
Helen was born in Chippewa Lake, OH and graduated from Wellington High School before the family moved to Akron. Helen began work in the mail room at Goodyear Aircraft/Aerospace and advanced to become secretary of the Aircraft Simulator Department 461, before retiring with 30 years service. Helen loved the game of golf and the many golfing friends she enjoyed through the years, and always looking for ways to improve her game. Helen enjoyed traveling by car and by tour bus, which usually included time at casinos which she so enjoyed, win or lose. Helen enjoyed baking, especially cookies and cinnamon rolls she called sticky buns, an art she learned from her mother.
Friends may call from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Friday August 28 in the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St, Cuyahoga Falls. Mass will be said at St. Joseph Church, 1761 Second St, Cuyahoga Falls, at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 29, Fr. David McCarthy officiating. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of other remembrances, memorials may be made to the St. Joseph Church Memorial Fund, 215 Falls Ave., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221.
