Helen A. Hughes

Helen Ann Hughes, 89, of Stow, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2023.  Helen was born on January 25, 1934, in Mansfield, OH, daughter of the late Conrad and Hilda (Schmitzer) Niedhammer.  Helen grew up in Mansfield, graduating from St. Peter’s Catholic High School.  She went on to work in the Air Force Civilian Service before retiring as a Dental Assistant with Dr. Jendrisak’s office with 20 years of service. She was kind and generous with her time, often making desserts for nursing homes. She also enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her sisters, Lois Stupanski and Marilyn Wentz.

She will be dearly missed by her children, Tim (Joni) Hughes, Terry (Pam) Hughes, and Beth (Jack) Hendrickson; grandchildren, Amy Hughes, Nick (Chelsea) Hughes, Keli Hughes (Ryan Quent), Chris (Anna) Hendrickson, and Karen Hendrickson; great-grandchildren, Jack Tatsunoshin and Shinsukke Hendrickson; sister, Vivien Fisher; brother, Thom (Cindy) Niedhammer; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Guests are welcome for visitation on Friday, September 29, 2023, from 4-6 pm at Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221.  Memorial donations, if desired, may be made in Helen’s memory to the Salvation Army.
