CUYAHOGA FALLS - Jack Brillhart's life journey began July 14, 1919. He passed away peacefully on May 15, 2014. Jack lived a full life for 94 years. He was born in Akron and grew up playing and swimming in the canal. Jack always had numerous friends throughout his life. He graduated from South High in 1938 and Akron U in 1966. He resided in Cuyahoga Falls since 1961.
Jack was a Pearl Harbor survivor, and served in the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers. He also served in the Pacific arena in several battles.
Jack loyally worked for B.F. Goodrich for 35 years as an accounting supervisor. Upon retirement at age 65, Jack realized a passion for selling jewelry. He began his 25-year sales career at Cowell and Hubbard and finished at a company he truly respected, Henry B. Ball Jewelry.
Although Jack liked working, what pleased him to his core was serving others. Jack did this through many ways. He was a member of Akron Lodge #83, FAM, Cuyahoga Falls Chapter #225, Cuyahoga Falls Council #144, Cuyahoga Falls Commandry #83, Tadmor Shrine, the All-American Soap Box Derby, a 40-plus year usher at First Grace United Church of Christ, Akron Men's Garden Club, The Chapel, and the Institute of Management Accounting where he had perfect attendance for over 40 years. Jack absolutely loved serving the BFG Credit Union for almost 50 years. He held many positions and supported the Credit Union with enthusiasm. Right up to the end, Jack also was volunteering at Akron General Medical Center every Thursday where he enjoyed working as part of a team who give the highest level of kind compassionate care.
Jack is survived by his wife Carrie with whom he shared love with every minute for over 63 years. He is also survived by his family, son Michael (Suzanne) and grandchildren Ashley and Jonathan Brillhart and Stephanie and Sydney. Jack had many relatives and friends whom he loved.
Calling hours for Jack will be Monday, May 19 from 2-3 pm., with a funeral service at 3:00 pm. in the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. Pastor Darrell Frazier will be officiating.
