James Dunn

CUYAHOGA FALLS- James C. Dunn, 90, passed away Jun 26, 2017.

Jim Dunn was born in Cuyahoga Falls where he lived most of his life. He was a graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School, Class of '44. His love of music and the piano was nurtured by his membership in the Acapella Choir. And that became a lifelong passion. He then went on to receive a degree at Kent State before going into the service. He served in the Korean War and returned home to a math teaching career beginning in Clinton and then Jennings before heading to Lakewood until his retirement in 1982.

He loved bowling, card playing and was quite a sports fan. And his quick wit and orneriness were part of his charm. His home was the scene of many family visits and lots of laughter. Jim was also an avid dog lover, and Toosie, his 80th birthday present from family, became his pride and joy.

Jim was predeceased by his parents, Helen and Andy Dunn; sister-and brother-in-law, Doris and Art Bodley, brother-and sister-in-law Bud and Amy Dunn, sister, Joan Jenkins; and long-time companion of 43 years, Bob Seitz.

Survivors include sister-and brother-in-law, Shirley and Sonny Fanelly; nieces and nephews, Sandy, Sherry, Lee, Ken, Kathy, Julie, Karen, Pam, and Jill; and many great-nieces and -nephews.

Our special thanks go out to Stojka and Nae, his devoted caregivers and the Palliative Care Unit at Summa Hospital.

Memorial calling will be held from 2-4 PM on Thursday June 29, 2017 in the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home 1930 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221.
